Sushi for a Cure is a one-of-a-kind American Cancer Society evening of impact, blending a specialized dining experience with a shared commitment to end cancer as we know it, for everyone.
This fun-filled, intimate evening includes a diverse menu of innovative sushi and Japanese fare artistically crafted by Chef Ramon from Hawaii, as well as a Silent Auction, Live Auction, and interactive activities including a paddle raise.
Celebrating its 13th year, this event unites supporters to fund groundbreaking research, lifesaving programs, and patient services that bring hope to those impacted by cancer. Every sponsorship and ticket purchased helps move us closer to a world without cancer.
The Kabaker Family’s journey creating Sushi for a Cure is one born from personal loss and transforming into a beacon of hope. Fifteen years ago, David Kabaker’s wife, June, lost her battle with lung cancer, followed by her sister Roni a year later. Tragically, David also witnessed his parents’ struggles with cancer; his mother’s breast cancer metastasized, and his father fought lymphoma. Fueled by these experiences, Sushi for a Cure was founded by David alongside June’s cousin, Chef Ramon, and with the support of close friends, Joelle and Kent Lewis.
This event not only celebrates life, but also serves as a tribute to all those touched by cancer. With the unwavering support of his children, Sophia and Jared, David continues this legacy of compassion and support for this impactful cause.
As the only organization combating cancer through advocacy, discovery, and patient support, the American Cancer Society has made significant contributions to the fight against cancer over the last 110 years. We advocate for lifesaving policy changes, promote healthy lifestyles to help prevent cancer, and provide information, answers, and support to people in every community who have been touched by cancer. We also research cancer and its causes to find more answers and better treatment.
Yet, there is still work to be done – which is why we are so glad you have joined us tonight! The American Cancer Society continues to work tirelessly to fund research and provide support for all types of cancer. And thanks to your generous support, we work to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
Every cancer. Every life.
